Yolande Geyser – Founding Director

Yolandé completed her degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology at UCT in 1996. She has worked in the field of dual diagnosis as a counsellor and coach since 2011. Yolandé is also a qualified EGALA equine therapist. Her original career was in media and business management for nearly two decades. She is the only person to have crossed Africa on a solo horseback ride in 1997. Yolandé founded Papillon and is closely involved with the career and community reintegration of clients. Yolandé through her own experience as she too has a mental illness has created a place of true healing – she was diagnosed in 2004.

Dr Sarojini Naidoo – Psychologist

Dr Sarojini Naidoo has 20 years of experience in the field of mental health as a psychologist and social worker. She has a special interest in patients with dual diagnoses and works primarily from CBT and DBT frameworks. Her research, teaching and counselling  interests are in the areas of psychopathology and suicidality. She is passionate about a range of mental health concerns affecting adolescents and adults and works with the Papillon team to deliver holistic therapeutic interventions.

Lara Noik – Social Worker

Lara has a special interest in the fields of mental health, resilience and relationship work. She believes in the innate resilience that exits within each human being and has spent her career counselling individuals, couples and groups from this standpoint. Lara has extensive experience in the modality of group work. She is passionate about transformative processes that are strength based and empower people to access their potential in order to live their best possible lives.

Jamie le Roux – Occupational Therapist

Jamie graduated with a BSc Occupational Therapy (Hons) from the University of Cape Town in 2017. During her university career, and community service year at 1 Military Hospital, she has been exposed to a broad range of mental health disorders and psychiatric illness. Jamie believes in a holistic and multi-disciplinary team approach in treating mental health users for improved quality of life, meaningful engagement in occupation, and successful reintegration into society and the workplace.

Dr Jermina Sebei – Psychiatrist

Jermina works Papillon Psychiatric Recovery Centre as an integral part of the team. She graduated BCur and MBCHB degrees at Medunsa. She received her post graduate training at Wits University. She was awarded Fellowship in Psychiatry in 2011 CMSA. Jermina’s interest includes treating patients with  Bipolar Disorders, Schizophrenia, Depression, Psychiatric disorders due to HIV and Epilepsy. Currently she also works privately and is attached to Wits University department of Psychiatry.

Dr Jeremy Royds – Psychiatrist

Jeremy works closely with the Papillon team and has a special interest in psychotic disorders. He graduated from UCT in 1976 with his MB.Ch.B. In 1991 Jeremy attained his FFPsych and then ventured to the UK and achieved his MRCPsych in 2001. Jeremy has a unique understanding of chronic disorders and the rehabilitation of clients in a holistic manner.

Michael Head – General Manager

Mike has always had a passion for people and been in the hospitality industry for the past fourteen years – he has worked abroad, on ships and in the bush. Michael is a keen adventurer and can often be found with clients on adventure expeditions – he started a popular adventure centre in Mpumalanga in 2000. Michael has a degree in Quantity Surveying from WITS.

Jason Maseko – House Manager

Jason believes that nothing is as beautiful as sharing his personal experiences with others who struggle with mental illness and substance abuse. He has witnessed people in a hopeless state of mind becoming amazing members of society. He sees miracles happening daily.

Alisa Ray – Art Facilitator

Alisa has been facilitating art sessions at Papillon for over 6 years and loves this work. She has a BA Hons degree in the History of Art and Archaeology in Africa and Asia from SOAS, London. For the past 15 years she has been working in the community art sector and has worked with children and adults from diverse backgrounds.

Lawrencia Mloyi – Culinary Facilitator

Lawrencia is a graduate chef of the International Hotel School. Lawrencia has 4 years experience in the hospitality industry. She has trained at various establishments such as the Protea Hotel Midrand, Holiday Inn Sandton and Premier Hotel OR Tambo. Lawrencia is responsible for the meals at Papillon and training the clients in cooking and balanced diets.

Nicholas Tlhabanyane – Sport Facilitator

Nicholas works as sports coach and is versatile in many sports such as cricket, soccer, rugby, hockey and conditioning. Nic works as a facilitator using sports and exercise as a form of therapy, specifically concerned with the rehabilitation of clients back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and fitness regardless of age and ability.
